Sir,
With referenceto your letter of the 22nd.
July No. 23213/11 authorising the issue of an alimentary
allowance to Mr. J. I. Plummer, late Chief Assistant
at the Hong Kong Observatory, I have the honour to report
for the information of the Secretary of State that we
have received a telegram from the Government of Hong
Kong informing us that Mr. Plummer has been granted a
pension of $1080 per annum as from the 10th. May 1911.
2. The pension is payable in England at 3s.8d.
to the dollar and the sterling rate is consequently
exactly the same as that of the alimentary allowance
which the Secretary of State authorised us to pay to
Mr. Plummer.
